Some movie lovers are die hard fans of one genre of movies while others love to watch a wide array of movies. Some people even host screenings at home. If you enjoy films, you'll be able to resist sitting in a packed movie theater during a showing.

Films can be classified based on their content or genre. A film could be targeted at children, while others are intended for adults who love in a mindless, entertaining. There are films that have scenes of graphic violence and sex. The rating of the film that is on a DVD therefore depends on whether it contains violence or not. A lot of DVD distributors carry out a rating system for their DVDs that they sell.

Movies intended for children must not contain violence, profanity, and nudity. In a film, profanity is found to be very excessive and can include using very vulgar words or using expletives. Nudity in a movie can be shown in the form of full nudity, partial nudity or by showing a portion of the skin , and/or having the lingerie of other items of sexual desire displayed. Films that contain profanity are rated with an adult content designation.

In the US the United States, a film rating system dubbed the MPAA (Masters of Cinema Association) was developed by the National Association of Film Decisions. The objective of the association is to assess films based on their suitability for children. There are many branches of the association, including the sales department and censorship.

The MPAA Ratings system is based on the notion that films should relate to their audience and not cater to the tastes of adults. Films that are intended for teens and preteens are rated "PG" for both the audience as well as the content. The system was designed to offer parents some guidance regarding the movies they rent.

Films are classified into three fundamental categories according to their target audience. They are: Teens, Adults and Mature audiences. Other classifications are part of one of these two categories. The classification of a film into these three basic groups allows the film to be appropriate for a variety of audiences.

The MPAA Ratings also gives a rating to films in relation to their nudity content. The film's nudity can be shown graphically or implied through dialogue, storyline, and casting. The most common ratings for films include NC (Not Complained), NC-17 (ages 17 and over) and R (rated mature viewers).

Movies are viewed by millions of viewers across the United States and Canada. Many theater owners offer personalized viewing packages that are tailored to the individual preferences and tastes of their patrons. In the past several years, the National Association of Theater Owners (NADA) has created the Movie Review System to help customers find the ideal film to enjoy. There are more than 500 movies that consumers can choose from, each one based on their own tastes and preferences.

A lot of the movie ratings used by film critics and movie lovers are based on a star-rating system. A rating can be assigned to a movie, indicating whether it is a guaranteed hit or a complete failure. For instance, the movie The Hangover was considered a certain success, but it did not open big in the box office. Based on the film's success, the studio changed its name to The Great Lie and released the movie as a flop. It was a success because of its unique story that a man is planning to get married and fall in love with a Chinese girl, but then becomes addicted to drugs. He is forced to lie about his addiction to his wife and to his friends.

The PG rating is for mature films and can contain mild violence, intense action or violence, but no nakedness. The goal of the PG rating is to give parents alternatives to films they might not wish to let their children watch. Movie ratings are based upon the intended audience (i.e. whether kids, adults teens, etc.)

All the information about movie ratings is available through the MPAA (Movies Rating Administration). The MPAA (Movies Rating Administration) offers movie ratings to aid parents in making the right choice when selecting films for their children. The age of the viewers as well as whether they're targeted audiences or not should be considered when assessing movies. Film ratings are determined by a variety of factors, including content of the film, special features, film techniques, special and on-screen interactions, performances of actors and actresses, and on-screen dialogue. In general, all people who are admitted to show films must watch them in the appropriate category.
